With the stakes high, Terrence Romeo was at his best in Game Four of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Finals, Wednesday.
After shooting just 30.3 percent from the field across the titular bout’s first three games, Romeo shot 6-of-12 for 18 points in Game Four to help San Miguel drub the Magnolia Hotshots, 114-98.
The Beermen tied the best-of-seven series at two games apiece.
But the flamboyant scorer’s shooting was only part of the Beermen’s impressive offensive performance as a whole. After shooting just 32.9 percent in Game Three, San Miguel shot 51.8 percent on Wednesday night.
Romeo said that they didn’t do anything special, though.
The series has now been reduced to a virtual best-of-three. The Beermen, of course, are keen on winning the next two games. Victory wouldn’t just mean their fifth straight title, but would also cement their legacy as one of the best All-Filipino squads.
Winning the title would mean plenty for Romeo, since it will be his first-ever taste of gold. The 5-foot-11 guard out of Far Eastern University has never experienced winning a championship throughout his career.
But Romeo isn’t thinking too far ahead.
“One game at a time muna ako. Siguro tsaka ko na isipin pagka nandun na,” said the 27-year-old, who has been averaging 13.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in the Finals.
