For five years, Shaya Adorador carried the mantle for the University of the East Women’s Volleyball program, for better or for worse.
It was much worse than it was better for much of Adorador’s stay in UE. The Lady Warriors were winless through her first two years and had just two wins combined in the following two seasons.
The 5-foot-8 outside hitter admitted that she and her family thought of transferring to a different school.
“Noong time ko po kasi two years pa ang residency kapag nag-transfer,” Adorador recalled.
Having been a student in UE since high school, Adorador is glad, looking back, that she chose to stay loyal.
“Limang taon na ups and downs sa team. Sa UE community naman sobrang thankful ako kasi alam kong may doubt dahil sa pinapakita ng team, nandoon pa rin ‘yung suporta nila,” the 20-year-old spiker shared.
UE management is looking reward Adorador. She has yet to accept, but an offer stands for her to serve as an assistant to UE’s girl’s team is on the table.
“If she wants to take it, we’ll be very happy,” said UE athletics director Rod Roque.
Leaving her home for the last decade, Adorador is excited to move on to her next chapter.
“Maalala nila ako sa pagiging loyal siguro,” Adorador said when asked about the UE community.
