Santiago receives fifth FIVB Women’s CWC golden ticket


In a surprise announcement, the Philippine Superliga named Foton Tornadoes’ middle hitter Jaja Santiago the fifth member of the PSL All-Stars who will compete in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championships hosted by the Philippines at the SM Mall of Asia Arena from October 18-23.

RC Cola-Army’s Jovelyn Gonzaa and Rachel Daquis, F2 Logistics’ Kim Fajardo, and Petron’s Jen Reyes were previously named to the team.

Santiago was key to Foton’s PSL Grand Prix championship run last year when she earned a the 1st Middle Blocker award.

One of the younger members of the team, the towering 20-year old was the UAAP Season 76 Rookie of the Year and was the UAAP Best Attacker in Season 77 and 78.

She is also a two-time Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference champion.

“Siyempre sobrang honored ako. As a player, mabigyan ka lang ng chance makalaban ‘yung best sa sport mo, wala ka nang ibang hihilingin,” gushed the Cavite native.
