KUALA LUMPUR – San Miguel hardly faced any problem in securing the services of its first-round selection from the recent PBA Season 50 Draft.
The Beermen have come to terms with Chris Miller for a two-year contract, as confirmed by head coach Leo Austria to Tiebreaker Times Tuesday
Both parties formalized the deal also on Tuesday, with Miller accompanied by Phenom Sports Management’s Anthony Brodett and sports psychologist Joevince Eusebio in the signing led by SMB team manager Gee Abanilla.
Negotiations were fairly smooth among those involved, something that San Miguel didn’t have last year after engaging in a long discussion with Avan Nava, whom it selected at no.12 during the Season 49 Draft proceedings.
Formerly of the Korean Basketball League, Nava was eventually traded to NorthPort as part of a package to bring in young big man JM Calma.
Now, the Beermen are welcoming a 32-year-old combo guard who’s armed with rich experience, having been playing professionally for over a decade now which saw the Brooklyn-native play in various leagues around the globe.
Miller caught the attention of Austria after ruling the Three-Point Shootout of the last Draft Combine, where he beat Dalph Panopio and JP Cauilan.
Soon, the 6-foot-2 lefty is expected to add a solid presence to a backcourt that features CJ Perez, Juami Tiongson, and Chris Ross.
