Remogat leads Gilas Men to first-ever stop title in FIBA 3×3 Nations League

Noy Remogat carried Gilas Pilipinas Men to their first-ever stop championship in the 2024 FIBA 3×3 Under-23 Nations League-Asia 2 conference on Saturday evening in Handan Shi, China.

The new UP Fighting Maroon capped his impressive leg by knocking down the leg-winning deuce with 3:02 remaining, stunning Mongolia with a 21-12 victory.

With the win, the Philippines sits in third place with 340 points ā€” 20 behind Japan but still 120 points behind Mongolia in the conference standings.

Still, it was a monumental win for the menā€™s side, whose best finish prior to this was third place during Stop 2.

Remogatā€™s heroics began during the second game.

With a final berth on the line against Japan, Remogat knocked down a toughly contested lay-in with 4.6 seconds left, lifting the Philippines to a narrow 19-18 victory.

Remogat finished the day with 18 points ā€” including seven against Mongolia, six against China, and five against Japan.

Gilas Menā€™s 20-17 victory against China, which also saw Patrick Sleat score six, set the tone for the Philippinesā€™ epic day.

Also part of the team for the stop were Jun Roque and JM Tulabut.

Itā€™s not just the menā€™s side that had a monumental day, as Gilas Women defeated a Japanese side for the very first time, scoring a 21-15 victory.

Tin Cayabyab led the way with nine points in the victory, while Camille Clarin and Ann Pingol added five and four, respectively.

However, Gilas Womenā€™s 14-7 loss to China and Japanā€™s 17-14 win over China resulted in Japan heading to the final.

Japan topped the stop after beating Mongolia, 16-14, in overtime.

Gilas Women dropped to fifth in the conference with 310 points ā€” five points behind fourth-running Mongolia and 10 behind Kazakhstan.

China is still on top with 440 points, followed by Japan with 410.

The Philippines is slotted with Mongolia and Turkmenistan in the final stop of the conference today.
