Poy Erram is scheduled to undergo an X-ray after spraining his right ankle during TNT’s Game 2 loss in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Wednesday.
The veteran center said that he’ll get checked on Thursday, hoping he suffered nothing serious as the injury prevented him from returning to the match and further handicapped the Tropang 5G — ultimately bowing to a 98-92 decision.
“Bukas ako magpapa-X-ray,” he told reporters while being wheeled out of the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
“Namamaga talaga eh.”
Erram got hurt at the 9:04-mark of the third quarter, with TNT trailing, 69-65. He landed awkwardly after trying to contest June Mar Fajardo underneath.
The 36-year-old had difficulty getting back up on his own two feet because of the pain and had to be helped out by his teammates on the way to the bench.
He then left for the showers with 2:45 in the same period, never to return, cutting short what had been turning out as a good game for him.
The former Defensive Player of the Year had six points, two rebounds, three assists, and three blocks in 15 minutes before getting hurt.
The development marks yet another big blow to the Grand Slam seekers, who just cannot seem to get rid of the injury bug the whole season.
Just as key cogs like Roger Pogoy and Kelly Williams have recovered, a cloud of uncertainty is now floating above Erram’s status for Game 3 at least.
“‘Di pa sure eh,” said Erram when asked if he’d be available for the next game set Friday at the Big Dome.
“‘Di ko nga siya maitapak eh. Sobrang sakit.”
