Bryan Bagunas returns to Japan, signs with SV.League contender Osaka

Bryan Bagunas is set to make a comeback to Japan.

The 27-year-old outside hitter has signed with powerhouse squad Osaka Bluteon, officially ending a successful three-year run with Win Streak in Taiwan’s Top Volleyball League.

“We are pleased to announce that Bryan Bagunas (Philippines) has officially joined the team as a new player for the team’s quest to win the Daido Life SV.LEAGUE in the 2025-26 season and challenge the World Club Championship,” said the team in a statement.

“We look forward to your continued support for Bagunas, who will join the Osaka Bulleteon.”

Bagunas, who is currently recovering from an undisclosed knee injury, was dominant during his stint in Taiwan. He won two championships while earning a Most Valuable Player award with Win Streak before deciding to return to Japan.

This marks Bagunas’ second tour of duty in the Land of the Rising Sun, having previously played for Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler from 2019 to 2022.

The former Spikers’ Turf MVP is currently putting in the work, focusing on his recovery as he aims to be ready in time for Alas Pilipinas’ campaign in the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship, which the country will host this September.

Bagunas is expected to join the Osaka Bluteon, who finished third in the previous SV.League, after the world tilt. There, he will team up with Japan men’s volleyball team star Yuji Nishida.
