Poy Erram won’t see action when TNT tries to regain the series lead over San Miguel in Game 3 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals on Friday night.
X-ray results showed a minor ligament tear in his right ankle, making him unavailable for the match set at 7:30 PM at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
“Pero wala namang fracture,” he told Tiebreaker Times on Friday morning.
It’s a massive blow for the Tropang 5G, who badly missed his presence during their eventual 98-92 loss in Game 2 last Wednesday.
Erram suffered the injury in the match — specifically at the 9:04-mark of the third quarter, when he landed awkwardly after contesting June Mar Fajardo mid-air.
The 36-year-old had difficulty getting back up on his own two feet because of the pain and had to be helped out by his teammates on the way to the bench.
He then left for the showers with 2:45 left in the period, cutting short what had been a good game for him.
The former PBA Press Corps Defensive Player of the Year had six points, two rebounds, three assists, and three blocks in 15 minutes before going down.
Erram then had to be wheeled out of the Big Dome as he could hardly put weight on his injured ankle due to extreme soreness.
The recent finding has compelled Erram to wear a protective boot.
It remains to be seen, too, if he can rejoin the Grand Slam seekers on the court as early as Game 4 on Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
