ANTIPOLO — Rondae Hollis-Jefferson did a bit of everything to anchor TNT to a 91-73 conquest of Magnolia to move a win away from the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup semifinals, Wednesday night at the Ynares Center here.
The three-time Best Import finished with 39 points and 15 rebounds, together with two assists, two steals, and three blocks as his infectious energy enabled the reigning champions to get the Hotshots in the palm of their hand once more.
That was evident during the third, when he starred in an overwhelming 21-4 run to turn a narrow two-point lead to 72-53 with less than two minutes left in the period, leaving the opposition without any solution all the way to the end.
The crew put together that rally as a response to their corporate rivals’ 15-0 run abridging the second and third quarters to cut the gap to 49-51—a run that proved to be Magnolia’s last hurrah as the ball game turned into a rout.
Coach Chot Reyes and his charges could close out the best-of-5 series in Game 3 on Saturday, October 31, 7:30 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
