It will be an explosive night in ONE Championship’s homecoming.
After seven long months, The Home Of Martial Arts heads back to its home base in Singapore with ONE: Reign of Dynasties, scheduled for this Friday, October 9.
ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong made the announcement on social media on Sunday, making this ONE’s first event to be held in “The Lion City” since ONE: King of the Jungle on February 28 and the first international event in the country since the pandemic paralyzed the entire world.
“I am thrilled to announce that ONE: Reign of Dynasties this Friday, October 9, will be the first of many international events in Singapore for ONE Championship!” Sityodtong announced on his Facebook page.
“Thank you to the Singapore Government for entrusting me and my team to lead the way as the first international production of any kind (in sports, music, and/or entertainment) to return since borders closed earlier this year due to COVID-19. We are ready to ignite the world on fire!”
It will be an action-packed return for The Home Of Martial Arts with two-sport World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao defending his ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title against Josh “Timebomb” Tonna.
Gaiyanghadao, a Thai who is based in Singapore, plans to put on a show as he returns to action for the first time since beating Rocky Ogden in February.
“I’ve been working hard over the last few months, honing my skills further as the competition intensifies. Everyone wants a piece of the champion, and there are many great challengers out there. This break has really allowed me to focus on myself and re-energize. I’m ready to get back into the Circle and defend my World Title,” Gaiyanghadao said.
“Josh Tonna is a hungry young warrior, and I know he will be in the best condition possible for this fight,” he adds. “I’m coming in with my best too. For my fans, the pride of Thailand, and my team at Evolve MMA, I will beat Tonna and remain champion.”
Sityodtong is grateful to hold shows once more in a country that he has called home for years.
“Singapore is truly an extraordinary, world-class international metropolis. I will tell you that Singapore is literally the biggest reason why ONE Championship is a billion-dollar global phenomenon today and why it is Asia’s largest global sports media property in history,” Sityodtong said. “Whether it is my Singaporean teammates at ONE, the international business ecosystem of Singapore, or the Singapore Government, I have been the recipient of so many lucky blessings.
“Thank you, Singapore, for allowing me to live here. My heart is filled with deep love, gratitude, and appreciation for my adopted home.”
