Farm Fresh fended off the also-ran Galeries Tower in four sets, 25-10, 25-18, 24-26, 25-16 for its second victory in the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference, Tuesday afternoon at the Philsports Arena.
The Foxies used their balanced offense spearheaded by Louie Romero to turn back the Highrisers, who forced a fourth set after a tight win in the extended third, and improved their slate to 2-8.
After playing from behind in the third set, the Foxies made sure to never give an inch in the fourth, expanding its 19-15 advantage to 22-15 after Trisha Tubu and Kate Santiago contributed in a 3-0 run.
Ysa Jimenez tried to keep Galeries in the game with an off-the-block hit but an attack error from her, which was then followed by another from Dimdim Pacres, allowed Alyssa Bertolano to finish off the game with a block on Pacres.
“Sobrang laking bagay (ng panalo) kasi nga last conference wala kaming panalo tas ngayong second conference nakaka-win pa po talaga,” said Tubu, the team’s leading scorer in the conference.
“Sobrang sarap sa feeling na nakita sa team namin yung growth na unti unti ganun kahit paisa isang set, nagiging win. Sobrang sarap sa feeling na nakikita namin yung team namin na papunta na sa puro panalo na,” she added.
Tubu top scored with 15 points founded on 14 attacks while Santiago added 14 markers on 12 attacks and two blocks to go along with eight excellent receptions. Bertolano and Rizza Cruz added 11 markers each.
Louie Romero tossed 20 excellent sets to go along with three points for Farm Fresh in the victory.
On the other hand, the winless Highrisers, who dropped to 0-9 after the loss, were led by Graze Bombita and Pacres with 10 points each.
Farm Fresh will end its campaign against Nxled on Saturday, 4:00 p.m. in Iloilo while Galeries will try to end its maiden stint with a win against defending champion Creamline on Tuesday, 4:00 p.m. at the same Pasig venue.
