One less problem for SiPons, Dij-Blove as Sri Lanka pulls out of Continental Cup

The Philippine Women’s National Beach Volleyball Team will have one less problem when it competes in the 2018-20 AVC Continental Cup in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand this Friday.

This as Sri Lanka has pulled out of the semifinals, leaving the Philippines, Japan, and New Zealand to battle it out in the semifinals that has two spots at stake for the final from June 25-27.

Team 1 of the Philippines will consist of Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons while the second team will have the duo of Dij Rodriguez and Babylove Barbon.

In case any of the four will test positive after an RT-PCR test, reserve Mer Jauculan or Gen Eslapor will be called up.

New Zealand, on the other hand, brought in just two squads in Francesca Kirwan and Olivia Macdonald and Alice Zeimann and Shaunna Polley.

The highly-favored Japanese team will consist of Japan 1’s Akiko Hasegawa and Azusa Futami; Japan 2’s Chiyo Suzuki and Yurika Sakaguchi; and reserves Reika Murakami and Suzuka Hashimoto.

The top two teams will go on to face Australia, China, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vanuatu with the top squad advancing to the Tokyo Olympics.
