With 19 seconds left in the opening frame of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’ game against the Meralco Bolts, Norbert Torres checked into the ball game. He was finally back on the court that he loves.
He was able to recover faster than his two friends, who are still at home on the mend. And after missing just two games, the 6-foot-6 stretch big man returned for duty.
“It feels good to be back doing what I love.
“Just really blessed that nothing major happened and I can still play basketball,” he expressed after Rain or Shine’s 106-99 overtime win.
Torres was scoreless in the game but he was able to do his job, sealing off Bolts import Arinze Onuaku – especially in overtime. The third-year pro went a plus-9 in the contest and more importantly, he was pain-free.
“There wasn’t any pain today so I’m grateful for that,” revealed Torres, who wore a sleeve around his left arm.
And he could not have made a seamless return without the help of his teammates.
“They’re all behind me. They were all behind me. They were happy that nothing major, nothing serious happened. I was happy that they were behind my back so I was behind theirs while I was still recovering.”
