Six standout players from the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA’s historic NCAA Season 100 juniors campaign have made their decision — they’re staying home.
Jan Pagulayan, Aries Borja, Jericho Cristino, Icee Callangan, TJ Tabbuan, and Kelsey Baldoria have all committed to continue their collegiate careers with Perpetual, just a week after leading the Junior Altas to the school’s best finish in NCAA history.
This marks a significant step for the Altas’ program under head coach Olsen Racela, which is already anchored by Mark Gojo Cruz and will also welcome UAAP reinforcements Patrick Sleat, LA Casinillo, Kenji Duremdes, Kylle Magdangal, JM Tulabut, Allen Maglupay, and Josh Alcantara.
“This is a huge development for the entire Perpetual community. We’ve always wanted continuity between our high school and college programs, especially with the success of our junior team,” said Racela, an Ateneo legend and former FEU head coach.
“I’m really looking forward to guiding and molding these young men so they can realize their full potential both on and off the basketball court.”
Pagulayan, a 6-foot-2 winger, was the third-leading scorer for the Junior Altas, averaging 11.38 points, 4.69 rebounds, 2.08 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.
Borja, who towers at 6-foot-7, is seen as a high-ceiling prospect with massive upside.
Cristino, a 6-foot-3 forward, was named the Most Improved Player last season after posting averages of 9.31 points and 4.54 rebounds.
Callangan, the team’s lead playmaker at 5-foot-10, put up impressive numbers with 7.23 points, 6.23 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.08 steals per game.
Tabbuan, a 6-foot-2 guard, and Baldoria, who stands at 6-foot-4, round out the promising core that will suit up for Racela in the NCAA seniors division.
Perpetual, led by UPHSD Vice President Anton Tamayo, is also set to meet with NCAA Season 100 Juniors MVP Lebron Jhames Daep and Mythical Team member Jan Roluna this weekend as they continue building their future.
