TNT rode its luck in escaping Rain or Shine, 93-91,to take a 2-0 lead in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals Friday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
The Tropang Giga lost Rondae Hollis-Jefferson to fouls and then Jayson Castro to a scary leg injury inside the game’s final 5:36, causing their offense to stagnate the rest of the way while the hungry Elasto Painters took advantage.
Their foes sliced what was once a 93-80 lead to just a field goal with 2:35 remaining behind an 11-0 run, but even the crew couldn’t complete the comeback as they, too, struggled to find the bottom of the net.
RoS did get the final play after forcing Roger Pogoy to a five-second inbound violation, but Adrian Nocum missed the potential game-tying jumper.
