Mikey Williams delivered the knockout punches as Converge punched its ticket to the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup semifinals by ousting Converge, 120-109, in Game 4 of their quarters tiff, Friday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
The two-time champion finished with 17 points, none more important than the back-to-back triples he hit for the 115-107 lead with 2:42 remaining which blew the wind out of the Elasto Painters’ sails after a frenetic back-and-forth.
Cam Clark then came in to apply the finishing touches, and the entire FiberXers would erupt in jubilation when the buzzer rang as the franchise finally booked its first-ever appearance in the ‘Final Four’ since entering the league in 2022.
And those two were indeed crucial in steadying the ship for a team that lost Calvin Abueva due to technical fouls at the 4:16-mark of the third quarter.
