No stopping Roosevelt Adams as he finally gets his papers done

After a fruitful stint with Mighty Sports-Philippines in the recently-concluded Dubai International Basketball Championship, where they took home bronze, Fil-American Roosevelt Adams has a few concerns.

Adams should have made his debut in the 2019 PBA D-League last February 14 for 2018 Foundation Cup champs Go for Gold-St. Benilde Scratchers versus newcomers Cignal Ateneo. Unfortunately, eligibility issues barred him from suiting up.

The Scratchers lost, 75-103.

“The first game was really s—. I wanted to play against Ateneo, one of the top schools out here,” rued the 24-year-old product of College of Idaho, who also represents the Pasay Voyagers in the Chooks-to-Go 3×3 Pilipinas President’s Cup.

But apparently, everything has been settled now.

Adams finally saw action for the Scratchers on Thursday, when they took on the reigning NAASCU champions St. Clare College-Virtual Reality at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

However, it wasn’t the ideal debut for the guard, who has developed a reputation of being a sniper. In the 18-plus minutes he played, Adams shot just 4-of-11 from the field – 1-of-6 from outside – for nine points. He had six rebounds and four steals as well.

Go for Gold again lost, 78-92, dropping their card to 0-2.

With his first game in the developmental league done, Adams now looks forward to acclimatizing to everything. And he also hopes to have much better performances as the season goes along.

“Just getting used to the pace up and down, the physicality of course. Bad shooting night but hey, shooters shoot, and I’m just gonna continue on shooting,” said the 6-foot-5 Adams.

“I got my feet wet, so hopefully I’ll have a better game.”
