Matt Ganuelas-Rosser declines Terrafirma offer as Juami Tiongson to remain until end of year

Matt Ganuelas-Rosser is set to test out the PBA free agent market.

The versatile 6-foot-6 winger has now opened his doors for potential suitors as he turned down the two-year extension offered by the Dyip.

His contract expired last December 31.

“We talked to him before the expiration of his contract by the end of 2021,” team governor Bobby Rosales wrote in a message to Tiebreaker Times.

“We offered him a two-year extension which unfortunately he declined.

Ganuelas-Rosser is now the latest from the 2014 rookie class to take advantage of the league’s new rule on unrestricted free agency.

The 31-year-old was picked fourth overall by TNT in that draft.

Batchmates Rodney Brondial and John Pinto were the first to enjoy the new ruling as they signed with San Miguel and Ginebra, respectively.

It remains to be seen as to where Ganuelas-Rosser is headed but there will surely be offers coming his way, for he’s proven his worth in the league.

A member of the 2015 All-Rookie Team, the Fil-Am cager has five PBA championships under his belt, four of which he won with the Beermen.

His stint with SMB, though, ended in 2021 as he was included in a trade package sent to Terrafirma in exchange for CJ Perez.

With his departure, only Gelo Alolino has remained with the Dyip. Russel Escoto, the other part of the deal, is currently with Magnolia.

Short-lived was his stint with the ball club, but only needed little time to bring impact to the fast-paced scheme of head coach Johnedel Cardel.

Tiongson is another member of the 2014 batch, but the gunslinging guard still has a live contract with Terrafirma that runs until December 2022.

Tiongson arrived to the team via trade in 2019. He was sent by NorthPort for Jerramy King a day after being shipped by NLEX for Michael Miranda.

“I still have an existing contract po with Terrafirma. My contract ends Dec 2022 pa po,” the 12th overall pick of Blackwater said.
