Mark Striegl is all set to make his UFC debut on Sunday as he made weight for his upcoming three-round bantamweight clash against Said Nurmagomedov.
The 32-year-old checked-in at 136 pounds early Saturday morning (Manila time) while Nurmagomedov tipped the scales at 136 as well.
“I always felt is my most competitive weight and it takes a little bit of discipline to get there but it’s not a problem,” Striegl told the Hit List about going back down to the 135-pound division.
The bout takes place at UFC Fight Island in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
Striegl, who owns an 18-2 slate, was supposed to make his debut against Timur Valiev last August 22 but had to withdraw after contracting COVID-19.
The 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist in combat sambo won four of his last five bouts.
Nurmagomedov sports a 13-2 record.
Serving as the main event of the card is a clash between featherweight contenders Chan Sung Jung and Brian Ortega.
