Language barrier not a problem for Creamline, says Kuttika Kaewpin

Despite having played for the Creamline Cool Smashers here in the Philippines for almost three years already, Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin is still struggling to communicate with the rest of the team.

Admittedly, she can only say so much using a language other than her mother tongue.

Still, the 24-year-old is glad to play for Creamline. She stressed that despite her limited English, the team knows how to communicate with her beyond verbal messages.

“Little English but the team knows how to talk to me,” the 5-foot-7 Thai National Team spiker said.

What Kaewpin meant is the “happy-happy” philosophy that the Cool Smashers have followed ever since fellow Thai national Tai Bundit introduced it when he steered the wheels for Creamline.

Flaunting a connection unlike any other, Kaewpin and the Cool Smashers steamrolled BanKo Perlas, Sunday evening. Kaewpin registered 27 points spiked by nine booming aces.

“I think today, [there’s] no many thinking only happy today,” she beamed.

“Maybe I think today the team’s been very good. Service has been very good and defense as well.”

Though the import-laden season is far from over, Creamline’s infectious jovial aura is a big factor for keeping Kaewpin from leaving the Philippine volleyball scene any time soon.

“Staying with Creamline and staying in the Philippines, maybe it’s okay, and I’m happy in Creamline.”
