Kim Fajardo emphasized the need to focus on what’s next rather than dwelling on past results following PLDT’s bounce-back victory over Farm Fresh in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.
Fajardo and the High Speed Hitters were coming off their first loss against Khat Bell and Chery Tiggo.
But the team quickly licked its wounds and shot down the streaking Foxies in straight sets, 25-20, 25-23, 25-23, on Thursday at the Philsports Arena.
“Tinatrabaho lang namin talaga kung ano ‘yung susunod. Nandoon lang kami lagi sa what’s next, kasi hindi na naman mababalikan kung ano ‘yung naging result ng last game namin. So kalimutan [na] tapos trabaho pa rin,” said the veteran playmaker.
The La Salle great said that a part of the reason why they lost against the Crossovers was because they focused too much on what Bell could do, rather than thinking about their side of the court.
“Sa amin, medyo ‘yung last na talo namin inisip namin masyado ‘yung gagawin ni Khat Bell. Kasi ‘yun talaga nakalimutan namin, ‘yung kung anong kayang gawin ng team,” said the 30-year-old playmaker from Calatagan, Batangas.
“Siguro ‘yun ‘yung pagfo-focusan namin, hindi ‘yung kung anong kayang gawin ng kalaban namin. ‘Yung sa amin muna,” she added.
With their focus back in place, Fajardo and PLDT displayed great composure against the upset-seeking Farm Fresh en route to the win.
The decorated setter dished out 12 excellent sets to go along with three points in the 89-minute victory. That sealed the team’s spot in the top three of Pool A, where they join Creamline and Chery Tiggo.
“Ako happy lang ako kasi importante ‘tong game na ‘to para sa momentum as a team so ito yung basis namin kung ano kailangan namin iadjust.”
The High Speed Hitters will face off against the bottom three squads of Pool B in Choco Mucho, Petro Gazz, and ZUS Coffee in the crossover round.
