A defiant Mathaios “Kid Bomba” Chatzilakos appeared in front of the media after Deus Vault lost 3-0 to Onic Esports in the upper bracket semi-finals of the M5 World Championship.
Although admitting that their performance was far from what they had hoped for, Kid Bomba is positive that they can still fight back in the lower bracket.
“Maybe four out of ten. We could have done way more. It’s tough, but we’re not done yet,” he said when asked about their performance against the Indonesian powerhouse.
Kid Bomba was particularly hard on himself after failing to make a big impact in the series where a single play could have reversed the results in Games 1 and 3.
“I don’t think that Onic did something so great that we couldn’t do. It’s just that, I guess, today wasn’t our day; we didn’t play like we usually do. There was a lack of confidence, I feel, especially from my side,” he said.
“I saw a lot of moments already in-game where I could have done more. And I feel like that’s just about it, that we just didn’t perform the best we could today. But of course, in the next season, we’re going to try to do our best again.”
Deus Vult will fight for dear life in the lower bracket against Cambodia’s See You Soon, who is coming off a 3-0 win against Burmese Ghouls on December 11.
