Kevin Quiambao is staying in the Korean Basketball League for the foreseeable future.
The versatile 6-foot-6 forward has signed a three-year contract extension with the Goyang Sono Skygunners, securing his stay with the team until he turns 27.
For the former De La Salle University star, the extension is a testament to the hard work he’s poured into his basketball journey.
“Super happy! It’s just the fruit of all the sacrifices and hardships I’ve been through,” Quiambao told Tiebreaker Times.
Quiambao joined Goyang Sono midseason, after fulfilling his final duties with the Green Archers during UAAP Season 87. Despite joining late, the two-time UAAP Men’s Basketball MVP made an immediate impact, averaging 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
However, Goyang Sono finished in eighth place with a 19-35 record, falling short of a playoff berth.
With a full season ahead of him, Quiambao feels determined to lead the Skygunners to greater heights.
“To bring a legacy and hopefully win it all in the next three years — pero alam kong hindi ‘yon madali, so I’m super willing to work hard for it,” he said.
Quiambao is also in the process of finalizing his papers for a U.S. training camp, which could potentially earn him a spot on an NBA Summer League team.
In addition to his club commitments, he remains dedicated to representing the Philippines and is set to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas Men in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.
