Javi Gomez de Liaño finally cleared quarantine protocols last Wednesday and joined Ibaraki’s practices a day later.
However, the 6-foot-5 winger’s Robots debut will have to wait a little longer, the team announced on Thursday.
“Javi Gomez de Liano was able to join the team but due to various rules, we are not able to give further details,” read the team’s statement.
“Due to registration, he will not be able to participate in Week 4 but he will be at the venue to greet everyone.”
Ibaraki will host Thirdy Ravena and San-En (2-4) at the Kamisu Disaster Prevention Arena this weekend. Both games are set to tip-off at 1:05PM (Manila time).
The Robots are currently 0-6 this season, losing to Akita (63-84, 57-83), Shiga (88-93, 77-85), and Utsonomiya (66-88, 69-84).
Gomez de Liaño can make his debut on Wednesday when they head to Wing Arena to face Mikawa.
Big boys Aquino and Carino set for debut
Matthew Aquino of Shinshu and Kemark Cariño of Aomori, meanwhile, will make their B.League debuts this weekend.
Aquino and the Brave Warriors will take on Osaka (3-3) at the Evessa’s homefloor, Ookini Arena.
Shinshu is 2-4 and in the midst of a four-game slide.
On the other hand, Carino and the Wat’s will face Kagawa (4-2) at the Zentsuji Civic Gymnasium.
Aomori are 1-5 in B2, snapping their five-game slide last Sunday with a 77-69 win over Nara.
