Juan Gomez de Liaño emerged victorious over his older brother, Javi Gomez de Liaño, as Seoul SK secured an 84-69 win against Anyang JKJ in the 2024-25 KBL Season on Tuesday at the Jamsil Student Gymnasium.
The Knights showcased why they sit atop the 10-team league, delivering yet another dominant wire-to-wire performance to extend their winning streak to eight games and improve to a league-best 23-6 record.
Juan Gomez de Liaño, in limited action, went scoreless in six minutes and 11 seconds of play, missing all three of his field-goal attempts. He contributed with one rebound and one assist.
After pulling off an upset against SJ Belangel and the third-placed Daegu KOGAS Pegasus last Sunday, Javi Gomez de Liaño and the Red Boosters crashed back to reality.
They fell to a 10th-place 8-22 record after this loss.
Javi also struggled offensively, finishing with 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting. Despite the shooting woes, he added six rebounds, two steals, and one assist in the defeat.
Meanwhile, Ethan Alvano reminded everyone of his dominance, powering Wonju DB to an 80-68 victory over Belangel’s Daegu KOGAS at the Wonju Gymnasium, bouncing back into the win column.
After suffering a 94-69 drubbing at the hands of Migs Oczon and the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus last Sunday, Alvano rediscovered his form.
The reigning KBL MVP delivered an impressive stat line of 17 points, seven assists, five rebounds, two steals, and one block. The victory improved Wonju DB to a 14-15 record, solidifying their grip on sixth place in the standings.
On the other hand, Belangel’s struggles continued as he was limited to seven points on 3-of-9 shooting, alongside two assists and one rebound.
Daegu KOGAS has now lost three of their last four games, dropping to a 16-13 record, tying with Changwon LG for third place in the league standings.
