James Payosing is preparing to take his talents to the UAAP.
The 6-foot-2 forward from Bislig City, Surigao del Sur officially bid farewell to San Beda University on Thursday morning, announcing his transfer to University of the Philippines.
Multiple sources closely monitoring the situation confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
Payosing had long aspired to compete in the country’s premier collegiate league.
After playing a key role in San Beda’s NCAA Season 99 championship run — where he averaged 8.48 points and 7.7 rebounds per game — he received offers from multiple UAAP schools and an NCAA program. However, he opted to stay for one more season with the Red Lions.
In his final year with San Beda, he posted averages of 7.32 points, 5.32 rebounds, and 1.58 assists per game.
Payosing will serve a one-year residency before debuting for the Fighting Maroons in UAAP Season 89.
Turning 23 in November, he will still have two years of eligibility remaining.
