A UP lifer is ready to turn the page to a new chapter in his young career.
Aldous Torculas bid farewell to University of the Philippines on Wednesday, according to multiple sources from various NCAA schools that have been closely monitoring the situation.
It was a difficult decision for the UPIS standout, but Torculas is eager for the opportunity to prove himself elsewhere.
“We’re proud of Aldous kung saan man siya susunod na maglalaro and we’re sure that he’ll make UP proud by bringing the UP Fight,” said UP Office of Athletics and Sports Development Dir. Bo Perasol.
“We wish Aldous the best and for sure, there are no goodbyes to be said right now. We’ll see you soon!”
Due to the UAAP’s new eligibility rules, Torculas is now considering a move to an NCAA school.
Having already played three seasons with the Fighting Maroons, he would no longer have any playing years left if he transferred to another UAAP member school.
Torculas, who turns 21 this July, would still have two years of eligibility left in the NCAA, starting in Season 102.
One of the schools courting Torculas is Jose Rizal University, which is under new head coach Nani Epondulan.
The 6-foot-4 forward has played a total of 38 games for UP, with his best season coming last year when he averaged 3.87 points and 2.33 rebounds per game.
His career-high was 13 points.
