Dzi Gervacio stars as BanKo ends two-game slide

After suffering consecutive losses, the rejuvenated BanKo Perlas Spikers made quick work of the Iriga-Navy Oragons, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19, in the PVL Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Ateneo standout Dzi Gervacio powered in a game-high 17 points off 15-for-31 attacking to go with 10 digs.

Gervacio was dominant in a match which BanKo ended in under an hour and gave up a season-low 13 errors.

“It’s nice to be back here dito sa table na ito. Ayun siyempre na-relieve kami kasi two games kami na slide,” sighed BanKo head coach Dong Dela Cruz. “Malaking bagay ito sa first game namin sa second round. ‘Yung mga players nag-step up naman.”

Captain Sue Roces and middle blocker Joy Dacoron managed seven points each to pace the Perlas Spikers.

Joanne Bunag tallied 14 points, while Nene Bautista added 11 for Iriga.

BanKo (5-2) takes on the Adamson-Akari Lady Falcons (0-7) on November 4 at the same venue. The Oragons (1-6) also face Adamson, this Saturday at the Imus City Sports Center.
