Team Liquid Philippines made a dominant start in MPL Philippines Season 15, securing a flawless 2-0 record with back-to-back sweeps in their opening matches.
Kiel “OHEB” Soriano impressed in his debut, leading Team Liquid to a convincing win over Team Falcons PH. They continued their strong performance on Sunday, swiftly defeating Twisted Minds.
Despite their early success, head coach Rodel “Arsy” Cruz remains focused on improving the team’s gameplay.
“Sa ngayon kasi, may mga plans kami na hindi namin nasusunod, pero hindi naman totally 100-percent na hindi nasusunod. Kumbaga may mga miscomms pa rin. So hangga’t maaari, kailangan namin maglaro na parang 8 out of 10, ganon,” Arsy said in an exclusive interview with Tiebreaker Times.
Arsy took over as head coach after Harold “Tictac” Reyes moved into a managerial role.
Despite the pressure, he is grateful for the team’s chemistry and support.
“Siguro masasabi ko sa team ko is ibang-iba yung discipline at chemistry namin, hindi lang inside the game kundi pati sa labas. Kahit wala si Boss Tictac, sobrang laki ng naitutulong niya sa amin. Tsaka lahat kami talaga ay nagtutulungan,” he said.
Though new to Team Liquid, Arsy is embracing the challenge and proving himself in the league.
“Unang dating ko sa Team Liquid, pressured din ako sa sarili ko kasi kung maiha-hanay ko [sarili ko sa ibang coaches], sino ba ako para sa Team Liquid? Pero since tinawagan nila ako, tapos nabigyan nila ako ng offer, pinatunayan ko na lang din na may maipapakita din ako sa MPL,” he concluded.
