Team Liquid falls to M7 2-1 bracket after bowing to Selangor Red Giants

Team Liquid ran out of steam and fell to a 2-1 reverse sweep at the hands of Malaysian side Selangor Red Giants in Round 3 of the M7 World Championship Swiss Stage on Tuesday at the MPL Arena XO Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Despite the setback, the three-time MPL Philippines champions still have a chance to secure a playoff berth with a win in the 2-1 bracket.

In Game 1, SRG maintained a slim net worth lead in the early stages, but the match took a decisive turn when Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno (Hayabusa) secured the 9th-minute lord and eliminated Muhammad Haqqullah “Sekys” Ahmad Shahrul Zaman (Lancelot).

Even John “Innocent” Banal’s (Sora) Savage killing streak late in the 10th minute could not save TL. The Malaysians maintained control of the lord objective and successfully invaded the enemy base for an 18-minute opening victory.

The MSC 2024 champions responded in Game 2 with a dominant performance, leveling the series with a lopsided 22-6 kill score in just 14 minutes.

However, Selangor Red Giants delivered an impressive early-game performance in the rubber match, ultimately taking down Team Liquid and completing the 2-1 reverse sweep.
