JRU’s MJ Raymundo makes the jump to EAC

After one standout season with Jose Rizal University, MJ Raymundo has decided to make a move.

The 6-foot all-around guard has transferred to Emilio Aguinaldo College, a development confirmed by Generals head coach Jerson Cabiltes in an interview with Tiebreaker Times.

Cabiltes had been impressed by Raymundo’s performance during their October 4 matchup, where Raymundo tallied eight points and 10 rebounds to help the Heavy Bombers secure a 75-63 win over the Generals.

“Impressive yung bata,” Cabiltes said. “Very athletic.”

Raymundo’s decision to transfer came after his mentor, Louie Gonzalez, parted ways with JRU.

In his lone season with the Heavy Bombers, Raymundo showcased his versatility, averaging 9.67 points, 5.17 rebounds, 3.28 assists, and 1.56 steals per game.

The addition of Raymundo provides a solid foundation for Cabiltes’ rebuilding efforts, as 16 of the Generals are set to graduate following NCAA Season 101.

“Okay sa amin na sa amin siya lumipat kasi born ’03 siya. Saktong marami ang mag-graduate sa amin after 101,” shared Cabiltes as Raymundo will still have two years of eligibility remaining.

Raymundo will sit out for one year due to league transfer rules but will suit up alongside Kyle Ochavo and Joshua Tolentino starting NCAA Season 102.

Raymundo won’t be alone on his journey — his brother Harvae is also joining him at EAC.
