Four of Filipina spikers are setting their sights on an international breakthrough, as Alyssa Solomon, Majoy Baron, Mars Alba, and Maddie Madayag take their chances in the 20245Korean V-League (KOVO) Asian Quota Draft.
Solomon, National University’s opposite hitter who was the UAAP Season 86 Finals MVP, is making a bold move by foregoing her final year in the UAAP to chase a professional career overseas after this season.
Baron, a decorated middle blocker for PLDT, and Alba, Choco Mucho’s rising playmaker, are both looking to take their games to new heights, while Madayag, currently with Kurobe in Japan’s SV.League, is eyeing a fresh start in South Korea.
Baron and Alba are preparing for the quarterfinals of the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference with the High Speed Hitters and Flying Titans, respectively.
Madayag and the Kurobe AquaFairies are also in the midst of their Japan SV.League campaign.
Over in the men’s division, Marck Espejo is once again entering the KOVO Asian Quota Draft.
Espejo, who currently plays for the Kubota Spears Osaka in Japan, was selected third overall in the 2023 draft by the three-time champion Korean Air Jumbos, where he saw limited action.
The draft will be held remotely on April 11 at the Mayfield Hotel in Seoul.
