ONIC Philippines showcased their championship form, dominating TNC Pro Team with a clean 2-0 sweep on the opening day of MPL Philippines Season 15, held Friday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.
The turning point came when King “K1NGKONG” Perez’s Suyou secured a Maniac in the top lane, just moments after taking the Lord objective at the 21:08 mark of Game 2.
That impressive play earned K1NGKONG the MVP of the match, finishing with a record of four kills and one death.
“Good job sa boys. Good job sa kanila. Siguro sa buong career ko sa MLBB ito yung [match] na pinakana-outdraft kami, sobrang out-drafted talaga. Experience says a lot and nakikinig ako sa kanila. Non-stop isip ng play, positioning, etc. So again, very good and thank you, kase niligtas nila ako,” said head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin during the post-match interview.
Duanne “Kelra” Pillas (Granger) set the tone early in Game 1, leading his team to dominate the 17-minute and 51-second match.
The MPL PH Season 14 and M6 World Championships Finals MVP finished the opener with an impressive KDA of 11 kills, one death, and two assists.
Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera’s Mathilda emerged as ONIC’s main threat in Game 2, which lasted 21 minutes and 55 seconds, providing crucial sustain for TNC in every skirmish.
However, K1NGKONG’s decisive Lord steal and Maniac sealed the deal, spoiling Yawi’s comeback effort.
ONIC Philippines will next face Aurora on Sunday at 7:30 p.m., while TNC Pro Team will look for a comeback win against AP.Bren at 5:00 p.m. Both matches will take place at the same venue.
