Aurora shines bright, sweeps Twisted Minds to open MPL PH 15

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

Aurora opened its MPL Philippines Season 15 campaign in dominant fashion, spoiling Twisted Minds’ debut with a commanding 2-0 sweep on Friday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

In Game 2, Aurora dictated the pace from start to finish, securing every objective and closing out the match in just 13 minutes and 50 seconds.

Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto delivered a stellar performance on his Suyou, earning the Game 2 MVP honors with a flawless KDA of four kills and two assists.

“I think maganda yung naging start ng first game namin. Nagawa din namin yung pina-practice namin kaya maganda yung naging result,” said Aurora head coach Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani in the post-match interview.

Game 1 followed a similar script, as Aurora systematically dismantled Twisted Minds’ composure in every skirmish.

The turning point came at the 18-minute, 30-second mark when Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse (Chou) initiated a crucial Lord clash, setting up his squad for a four-for-zero trade.

That allowed Aurora to march straight down the top lane for the game-winning push.

Jan “Domengkite” Del Mundo (Granger) earned MVP honors in Game 1 after racking up seven kills and four assists, while Renejay contributed two kills, three deaths, and eight assists.

Aurora will next face reigning world and MPL PH champions ONIC Philippines on Saturday at 7:30 PM.

Meanwhile, Twisted Minds will look to bounce back when they take on Team Liquid Philippines on Sunday at the same time.
