Hadjizy lifts SMART Omega to first-ever MPL-PH Finals appearance

Hadjizy towed Smart Omega to its first-ever finals appearance after booting out Execration, 3-1, in the best-of-five semifinals of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Six, Saturday evening.

Considered one of the brightest young talents in the league, Hadjizy played consistently in the entire series. The KDA king of the regular season helped Omega withstand an all physical lineup from Execration in Game Four, finishing with seven kills, a death, and nine assists with his Yi Sun Shin.

“Sabi ko lang talaga sa kanila [teammates ko] na i-expect na nila na mahihirapan ako sa early game kasi ‘yung Khaleed nasa red, tapos kapag pumunta naman ako sa [purple] buff nandun naman ‘yung Hilda,” said Hadjizy, who reached the 200 kills milestone in this match for the season — the first to do so.

Toshi (Pharsa) provided bulk of the damage for Omega, dishing out the most damage while ending the match with six kills, two deaths, and nine assists. KurTzy (Yu Zhong) chipped in two kills and seven assists.

The supporting duo of Heath (Jawhead) and Haze (Selena) finished with a 5-1-11 and 2-3-13 KDA, respectively.

Execration had unusual picks in Game Four, giving Ch4knu the Khaleed while E2MAX held the Hilda. Execration started Game One with Ch4knu guarding Omega’s red buff while E2MAX roamed around the purple.

Still, Heath and Haze were able to provide the space along with Toshi and KurTzy to give Hadjizy enough breathing room to gather his resources. With no magic damage to dish out, Execration’s composition fell hard in the late game — paving the way for Omega to take full control of the map.

Execration had a promising Game Two when they tied the series at one-all thanks to the exploits of Hate (Roger), E2MAX (Angela), and Ch4knu (Hylos). Unfortunately, they could not build steam from there as they settled for another third to fourth-place finish.

Smart Omega will be going up against the winner between the semifinals match-up of BREN Esports and ONIC PH at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. Execration will face the loser of the bracket at 4:30 p.m.
