Fnatic ONIC Philippines completed a perfect first half of the MPL Philippines Season 14 regular season with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Falcons AP.Bren on Sunday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.
This win solidifies ONIC’s position at the top of the standings with an unblemished 7-0 record, while AP.Bren settles into second place with a 5-2 record.
The match culminated in an intense Game 3 – a true test of endurance and skill. Both teams battled fiercely, with neither side able to secure a decisive advantage.
The game reached its climax in a dramatic final push when Jan “Brusko” Parro’s Khufra made a game-winning play in the top lane.
This play resulted in a three-to-nothing trade, allowing ONIC to secure victory with a swift push through the mid-lane.
Brusko’s pivotal performance earned him the MVP title for Game 3. His impressive statistics include one kill, 11 assists, and three deaths in the 15-13 kill score, within a 19-minute and 30-second match duration.
Head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin remarked, “Siguro sa akin, sa point of view ng coach, I’m guessing, based sa pagkakakilala ko sa mga players ko, I would say na may ‘nerves’ na naglalaro kanina.
“And I think masyadong over-hyped in a sense na may mga scenario na parang feeling ko hindi sila masyadong nagkakaintindihan [sa mga] comms and etc. Tapos kalaban mo yung pinaka-best sa world eh.”
He added, “Tapos ang pinakagusto ko sa kanila, ayon nga, simula umpisa hanggang sa matapos, laban lang eh. Never stopped making plays. Regardless if it’s the wrong play, make sure na, you do it as a team. So yun naman yung ginawa nila.”
Game 1 saw Marco “Super Marco” Requitano (Moskov) and David “FlapTzy” Canon (X-Brog) take charge, giving the Sonics a hard time during teamfights and successfully zoning them. Super Marco’s triple-kill during the 11th-minute Lord skirmish was a turning point for FCAP.
They capitalized on this objective with a straight push from bottom to mid-lane, ending the game in just 13 minutes and 25 seconds.
Super Marco finished the game opener with a flawless KDA of four kills and three assists, while FlapTzy recorded three kills, three assists, and one death.
In the second game, ONIC turned the tables as Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez excelled on his Lou Yi, delivering consistent crowd controls in every teamfight.
Super Frince’s pivotal Diversion play at the 14th-minute and 42-second mark allowed ONIC to wipe out the reigning world champions, concluding the game at the 15th-minute mark.
His outstanding performance earned him the MVP award for Game 2, with two kills, eight assists, and one death.
