FlapTzy challenges Aurora’s ‘super team’ label: ‘Lahat ng teams malakas ngayon’

After the announcement of Aurora’s roster for MPL Philippines Season 14, fans quickly dubbed the prominent Serbian esports organization a “super team.”

This label stemmed from the team’s impressive lineup, which featured a mix of seasoned international tournament veterans.

Among them were Edward “Edward” Dapadap, Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo, and Renejay “Renejay” Barcase, all of whom were former Blacklist International players and M6 World Championship third placers. They were joined by Jonard Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto, the MSC 2022 champion, and Jan Dominic “Domeng” Delmundo, an up-and-coming goldlaner.

The “super team” tag gained more traction when Aurora opened Season 14 with back-to-back sweeps over Blacklist International and RSG Philippines.

However, their winning streak was quickly halted when they faced reigning world champions Falcons AP.Bren on Saturday and suffered a 2-0 loss.

Following this defeat, David “FlapTzy” Canon shared his thoughts with the media, expressing that he does not subscribe to the fans’ notion of Aurora being a super team.

“Di ko sila tini-treat as a super team kasi yung mga fans lang naman nagsasabi nun eh. Kumbaga parang isa lang sila sa contender din sa MPL talaga. Di ako naniniwalang super team kasi sinasabi lang ng mga ibang tao yun,” he explained.

FlapTzy went on to emphasize that the competition this season is more balanced, with many teams improving their rosters and gameplay.

“Feel ko lahat ng teams ngayon super team eh. Lahat po malalakas. Walang mahina ngayon. Sobrang lalakas pumindot ng mga players ngayon.”

While it’s still early in the season, FlapTzy’s assessment seems accurate. Last season’s seventh placers, Smart Omega, also handed FCAP a loss to start their campaign.
