The Philippine again could not make the podium, this time in the 30th Southeast Asian Games bowling men’s doubles event on Wednesday at the Coronado Lanes in Starmall EDSA.
Patrick Nuqui and Kenneth Chua crashed to fifth place out of the 15 two-man teams, as medals remained elusive for the top two Filipino keglers of the men’s singles event yesterday.
Nuqui averaged 207.33 points in a six-game series to finish with a total of 1244. His personal output held up against the rest of the competitive pack, but Chua’s 1176 pulled their total score down to 2516 — 41-points shy of barging into the top three.
Indonesian duo of Billy Muhammad Islam and Hardy Rachmadamian captured the gold medal with 2592. Thailand’s pair of Atchariya Cheng and Sirasak Manuwong aggregated 2564. Malaysia’s tandem of Tun Hakin and Rafiq Ismail, who had a 2556 total, completed the medal cast.
The other Philippine team composed of Merwin Tan and Frederick Ong tallied a total of 2384, landing at the 9th seed. The former produced a 1201 output, while the latter managed 1183.
