Gilas Pilipinas Boys recorded their most impressive victory so far in the FIBA Under-16 Asia Cup 2025 SEABA Qualifiers with a commanding 101-37 demolition of Singapore on Monday at the Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The young Filipino squad started strong, replicating their first-quarter blitz from the game against Thailand. They limited Singapore to just seven points on 2-of-12 shooting while forcing 10 turnovers, building a 17-point lead by the end of the opening quarter.
Gilas then exploded offensively in the second quarter, outscoring Singapore by 30 points, which set the tone for their third consecutive win.
Six Filipino players scored in double digits: Everaigne Cruz led with 14 points, Jhustin Hallare contributed 13, and Ethan Tan-Chi posted 12 points along with four assists and three rebounds.
Rayven Restificar added 11 points on an efficient 5-of-6 shooting performance, grabbing seven rebounds, while Andwele Cabanero also chipped in 11 points. Travis Pascual nearly recorded a triple-double with 10 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
UAAP Season 87 Finals MVP Gab Delos Reyes once again displayed his efficiency, finishing with a game-high plus-51 rating, seven points, seven blocks, six assists and 13 rebounds.
After a one-day break, the Philippines will face Indonesia on Wednesday, followed by a match against Malaysia on Thursday.
Singapore was led by Tan Ziyang, who scored 12 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the free-throw line.
Indonesia also secured their third straight win by narrowly defeating Thailand. Benjamin Hernusi led the way for Indonesia with 24 points, while Gede Dio Naranatha and Reiner Hadiputra added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Thailand fell to a 1-3 record, tied with Vietnam and Malaysia, after Malaysia handed them an 86-65 loss. Ronnie Allsopp led Thailand with 15 points and 14 rebounds, supported by Kittipat Pearach’s 15 points and Apirach Boonsrang’s 20 rebounds.
Malaysia’s Cameron Jeremie Tan topped the scoring with 20 points, while Lucas Chen contributed 10 points and five rebounds.
Vietnam’s Aidan Vo scored 11 points, with Huynh Quoc Bao Nguyen and Hoang Minh Khang Nguyen adding 10 points each.
