FIBA Asia Cup 2025 celebrates Saudi heritage, basketball spirit

The FIBA Asia Cup 2025 took a significant step forward with the official unveiling of the tournament’s brand on Tuesday.

The ceremony held at the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee headquarters introduced a visual identity that merges cultural heritage with the energy of basketball.

Present were FIBA Executive Director Asia, Hagop Khajirian, CEO and Secretary General of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Abdulaziz Baeshen, and Saudi Basketball Federation (SBF) President, Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi.

Set to be hosted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from August 5-17, 2025, the Asia Cup logo draws inspiration from Ardah, a traditional Saudi dance symbolizing celebration and unity.

The design integrates Ardah’s rhythmic movements with the athletic grace of basketball players, showcasing a blend of tradition and sport.2025-FIBA-Asia-Cup-Saudi-Arabia FIBA Asia Cup 2025 celebrates Saudi heritage, basketball spirit Basketball Gilas Pilipinas News - philippine sports news

The logo captures the essence of the FIBA Asia Cup trophy and incorporates key elements of basketball culture—players, fans, and the Ardah dance’s iconic dancers and drummers.

“The logo we unveil today to tip off a countdown of sorts to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 is a testament to the progress made by Asian basketball in the recent past as well as the potential it promises in the near future,” said FIBA Executive Director–Asia Hagop Khajirian.

“Simple in its presentation, but resplendent in production, the logo represents Asian basketball in one shot—we keep it simple, but we mean business.”

Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi, President of the Saudi Basketball Federation, echoed these sentiments.

“Saudi Arabia is eager to welcome the Asian basketball family to experience a unique blend of rich tradition and forward-looking spirit. The logo reflects this vision, combining traditional symbols with the lavender color inspired by Saudi Arabia’s indigenous lavender tree. We look forward to welcoming everyone to enjoy the sport, the culture, and the bright future that lies ahead,” he said.
