EVOS Legends has finally addressed the recent departure of Filipino EXP laner Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera.
According to Mohammad “Oner” Fakhreno, the head of esports at EVOS Legends, it was actually Dlar who decided to leave the team. This decision came after the team conducted a mid-season assessment at the conclusion of the first leg of the MPL Indonesia regular season.
“The choice for Dlar to return to the Philippines was a personal one. At the midpoint of each season (after completing leg 1), there is always an internal joint review conducted by the coaching staff and players. This review includes performance evaluations, specifically for Dlar,” stated Fakhreno in a media release.
Oner also revealed that the coaching staff had communicated their future plans for the 23-year-old Filipino star. However, Dlar ultimately chose to depart from the team mid-season and return to the Philippines.
The long-time EVOS Legends official emphasized that the organization fully supports Dlar’s decision.
“From the management’s standpoint, discussions took place with Dlar regarding their future plans and aspirations. Ultimately, Dlar opted to return to the Philippines, challenging themselves to excel and focus on the competitive scene there,” explained Oner.
“However, there is currently no detailed information on whether Dlar will commence competing in the current season or the next season. Consequently, the management has been making and will continue to make various efforts to support Dlar’s decision in pursuing their goals in the Philippines,” he added.
Oner also shed light on the coaching staff’s decision to not include the former ONIC PH star in the team’s starting five.
Oner mentioned that the team consistently holds trials at the start of each week to determine the lineup for the upcoming game dates. Unfortunately for Dlar, the team’s other EXP laner, Regi “Fluffy” Marviola, has been delivering more consistent performances, leading to Dlar being placed on the bench.
“Through observations during each week of the MPL tournament, at the beginning of practice, we hold trials to select the roster for the week. This provides more practice time before match day,” Oner explained.
“Our observations for this season indicate that Fluffy’s performance continues to surpass that of Dlar. This forms the basis for us to achieve our goal of winning each match, where the roster lineup includes the best-performing players,” he added.
Despite the unfortunate split, Oner believes that the entire EVOS Legends organization has significantly aided Dlar during his time in Indonesia, both in the Land of Dawn and in other aspects of his career.
“Nevertheless, if we assess Dlar’s growth from the time of joining until now, we have been dedicated to involving Dlar in the competitive scene and beyond, such as nurturing Dlar’s talents in entertainment. This will greatly contribute to Dlar’s personal branding in the future.”
