Chooks-to-Go will continue to support Kiefer Ravena

Despite the crisis being faced by national team star Kiefer Ravena, one of the brands that he represents will continue to support him.

With no hesitation, Chooks-to-Go — one of the chief backers of Gilas Pilipinas — pledged to continue supporting the embattled star, just like how Ravena had been there when the company needed him.

“Kiefer is one of the few stars who perfectly represents the values of our Manok ng Bayan mission.

“He has been a loyal soldier to our country, a good son to Chooks-to-Go, and a good brother to his teammates,” Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. president Ronald Mascariñas shared.  “Even if he is a busy entrepreneur, he always makes sure to answer the call of duty when the country needs him.”

Just last year, the 24-year-old combo guard played for multiple Chooks-to-Go-backed squads, including for the Jones Cup, the Southeast Asian Games, and the 3×3 World Cup. Moreover, he was named the team captain of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas team that played during the 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup.

For the next months, however, the record-holder for most SEA Games gold medals in Men’s Basketball will not be able to suit up for Gilas as he was slapped with an 18-month suspension by the International Basketball Federation for failing a random drug test.

Mascariñas believes that it was an “honest mistake” by Ravena.

“The drink Kiefer took is readily available over-the-counter. You have to be an expert to see that it contains banned substances by the World Anti-Doping Agency,” opined Mascariñas. “He took the drink without any knowledge that it contained those substances.”

Still, rules are rules, and it pains Mascariñas to see Ravena not be able to step on the court for the next few months. This is why he is calling for everyone to support Ravena in these trying times.

“He has given his heart and soul to the country. Now, it’s time for us to be the ones to lift him back up,” shared Mascariñas.

“Walang iwanan.”
