REPORT: Kiefer, Kobe lead Gilas 5 for Jones Cup

The latest batch of Gilas Pilipinas will be given a baptism of fire, as Kiefer Ravena, Kobe Paras, Raymar Jose, and Filipino-German Christian Standhardinger are set to join the National Team competing in the 2017 Jones Cup in Taipei, Taiwan from July 15-23.

Nelson Beltran of the Philippine STAR was the first to publish the report.

Joining the quartet are Gilas cadets Roger Pogoy, Jiovani Jalalon, Matthew Wright, Mike Tolomia, Ed Daquioag, Carl Cruz, Kevin Ferrer, Fonzo Gotladera, and Von Pessumal.

Mac Belo is also in the list, but is still recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus, the report furthered.

But as reported last night, the addition of TNT insurance import Mike Myers to the lineup is still in play.

The Jones Cup will serve as the team’s official tune-up heading to the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. However, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas has yet to submit its final lineup for the regional meet.

The Philippines is gunning for a sixth crown in the Jones Cup, a tournament last won by Philippine-representatives Mighty Sports a year ago.
