BREN picks Blacklist, who picks Omega for MPL PH playoffs

Bren Esports and Blacklist International finally made their respective picks for the upcoming MPL Philippines Season 11 playoffs, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Under section 2.9 of the league’s rulebook, the top-ranked squad of the regular season will decide the placement of the third and fourth seeds in the playoff bracket. Meanwhile,  the third placer will select the position of the fifth and sixth seeds.

Bren Esports, who finished the regular season with a league-best 31 points through an 11-3 record, picked the Tier One-backed squad for its first-round bracket.

On the other hand, the third-seeded Blacklist International selected its rival, the sixth-ranked Omega Esports as its first-round match-up.

This means that RSG Slate PH (4th) and ONIC PH (5th) will face off in the first round for the second consecutive time. The winner will move onto the second round where they will take on defending world champion ECHO anew (2nd).

The much-anticipated match-up between Blacklist International and Omega Esports will open the festivities on May 4, Thursday at 1:00 PM, followed by the rematch between RSG Slate PH and ONIC PH at 5:00 PM.

All playoff matches will be a best-of-five except for the best-of-seven grand finals.

The MPL Philippines playoffs will take place from May 4 to 7 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
