The National Basketball Association has been a strong advocate of healthy living and an active lifestyle. Every year, the league sends ambassadors to spread the ideals of NBA FIT here in the Philippines.
This year, there could not have been a better ambassador than Phoenix Suns floor general Brandon Knight.
“It’s very exciting [to be here],” the 6’3 point guard said. “I know that basketball has a big support here. I just want to spread my knowledge. Be able to tell kids what it’s like to be fit.”
Knight, 24, has battled various injuries the past two years that limited him to play just 63 games the past two seasons.
“It’s frustrating especially being on the sidelines,” Knight said in a press conference held at the NBA Cafe in Taguig City Monday afternoon. “It happens but I just remain positive and get the best out of the situation.”
“Everything happens for a reason and I can’t be mad with the situation.”
During those two years, the Florida-native shared that it helped him realize the importance of having a well-rounded and active lifestyle, the core values promoted by NBA FIT. He added that he plans to spread this to the Filipino youth tomorrow at the Gatorades Hoops Center in Mandaluyong City.
“Be active, play together, and eat well. Those three things are very important with NBA FIT and we live it every single day,” he said.
“We just want to show the kids what it takes not just how to be in the NBA but just how to be successful [in life].”
