RJ Colonia transfers to San Sebastian, reunites with former NU deputy Rob Labagala

Coach Rob Labagala continues to rebuild San Sebastian College-Recoletos with familiar faces.

This time, former National University (NU) guard RJ Colonia has officially transferred to the Golden Stags.

Golden Stags booster Jackson Chua confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.

“Happy, grateful, and excited to have RJ here, kasi alam kong he’ll add a lot to the team. He’s got talent, good character, and a great mindset,” said Labagala, a former assistant coach at NU.

“Lahat ng ‘to naging possible dahil sa suporta ng management, especially Boss Jackson Chua.”

The 6-foot-1 Colonia previously played for the Bullpups until UAAP Season 85.

Along with Pervy Timbang, he committed to the Bulldogs after their senior year in high school.

However, Colonia only saw action with NU’s Team B during his stint with the seniors’ squad.

Now, he’s getting a fresh start — and a chance to prove himself — with San Sebastian.

“Grateful again to Coach Jeff (Napa) and the NU management for allowing us to help develop RJ,” added Labagala.

Just last month, San Sebastian also secured the commitments of three other former Bullpups: Tom Pillado, Gab Nepacena, and Matt Acosta.

Colonia will be required to sit out one year before becoming eligible to play in NCAA Season 102.
