Alohi Robins-Hardy finally got her wish.
The 6-foot-3 setter out of Brigham Young University was selected third overall by Farm Fresh in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft held Sunday night at the Novotel Hotel.
Robins-Hardy was originally expected to suit up for the Foxies as early as October 2024, when the team announced her acquisition on social media.
However, the plan fell through since the PVL had already held its inaugural rookie draft in June of that year, and Robins-Hardy — despite her time in the Philippines — had never officially played in the league.
Instead, she spent the past year contributing off the court, serving as an assistant coach for both Farm Fresh and University of the Philippines.
“Honestly right now I’m more relieved than excited just because finally back on the court, finally get to play the sport that I love,” said Robins-Hardy, who previously had international stints in France and the Czech Republic.
During her time away from competitive play, the Filipino-American setter developed a deeper perspective on the game. Now, as she transitions from coach to player, she’s eager to bridge that understanding and bring a unique edge to her second stint with the Foxies — this time, on the court.
Farm Fresh is looking to rebound after finishing 10th in the recently concluded, record six-month-long All-Filipino Conference.
“It helped me on the coaching side to see it both ways. I know players sometimes have a hard time communicating with coaches, and I got to see that quite a bit last season, so I can help with that this coming season,” she added.
