Bianca Pagdanganan could not recover from a tough backside, and her day went from bad to worse at the conclusion of the third round of the 2020 Volunteers of America Classic at the Old American Gold Club in The Colony, Texas, USA, Sunday morning (Philippine time).
After barely making the cut the previous day, the LPGA rookie was eager to bounce back. Unfortunately, the punishing winter in this side of Texas turned up a notch, and frost delayed the day’s go-around two hours later.
Then when Pagdanganan stepped into the course, she went as cold as the winter breeze. She carved two twin bogeys at the 11th-12th and 16th-17th pairs of holes, pushing her back to 12-over in total.
The 2019 Southeast Asian Games medalist got a reprieve of a birdie in number three, but ended up with four straight holes. She even needed an extra stroke as she finished at 15-over 228 to bring up the rear.
Koreans So Yeon Ryu and multi-titled Inbee Park joined American Yealimi Noh at 4-under 209 to make for an interesting finish for the tournament.
Pagdanganan, on the other hand, will attempt to avoid the proverbial wooden spoon and try to end this tournament on a better note heading into the 2020 US Women’s Open on Thursday in nearby Houston.
