Niigata was once again on the receiving end of a beatdown, figuring in a 68-88 rout at the hands of Shibuya in the 2021-22 B.League season, Sunday at City Hall Plaza Ao-re Nagaoka.
Already behind 45-29 at the half, Albirex gave up 31 points in the third canto as the Sun Rockers’ lead ballooned to 74-52 to end the frame.
Leo Vendrame instigated Shibuya’s third quarter surge, scoring 12 points and going 5-on-5 from the field. Josh Harrelson, on the other hand, dominated down low during the quarter as well, putting up nine.
Shibuya maintained a double-digit lead in the final frame to go up to 16-9 in the standings while dealing the hosts their 22nd straight loss to fall to 2-23.
James McAdoo tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds while Harrelson got 16 points and six rebounds for Shibuya.
Vendrame added 14 points while Kosuke Ishii chipped in 12 as well.
Rosco Allen paced Niigata with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting while Jeff Ayres had 16 points and eight rebounds.
Kobe Paras, who only played 21 seconds in their 75-86 loss to Yokohama last Wednesday, played 13 minutes in the game. The 6-foot-6 winger finished with six points.
The two squads face off again tomorrow.
