It’s either you win or you learn.
That’s how RSG PH head coach Brian “Panda” Lim saw his team’s 0-2 defeat against Omega Esports yesterday.
In fact, he’s even happy with the loss. Because for Panda, that served as a lesson, not just for his team, but for him as well.
According to the 28-year-old Korean coach, he failed to remind his wards how to control the late game – the famous specialty of the Smart-backed squad that is now bannered by former Execration stars.
And it showed in the match, with RSG losing its early advantages in both Games One and Two. They dropped the opener in 27 minutes and 16 seconds and the clincher in 19 minutes and 55 seconds.
“Number one that was mali… my draft was mali because I was medyo obsessed with the Paquito and then number two, it’s that I didn’t really properly teach all of my players how to control the late game,” said Panda on Saturday.
Armed with the lessons of yesterday’s defeat, RSG PH showed its improved wares against ECHO via a 2-1 reverse sweep – including a 28:34-minute comeback victory in Game Two which turned their fortunes around.
With the win, RSG PH (2-1) is now tied with Omega Esports (1-2) at the fourth spot with four points each.
“That is why I was really happy actually that we lost, not because of the results but because we have so much to learn especially for our sides. I taught them, next time let’s do this, let’s do that, in the late game let’s always have discipline and control the lanes and the Lords,” said the former Playbook Esports coach.
“So we have a very good preview yesterday so even though we lost yesterday, we learned so many things that actually took us to the next level and I think those lessons showed today,” he added.
RSG PH is looking to carry over the momentum when they take on Nexplay EVOS next week, Friday at 6:00 PM.
